Cabo Verde operator CV Sky, officially known as Linhas Aéreas de Cabo Verde (LACV), has taken delivery of an ATR 72-600 registered D4-CCP. The regional turboprop is the first of two aircraft leased to expand the airline's fleet, joining two ATR units already in service across the archipelago.
Founded in 2024 in Praia on Santiago island, CV Sky initiated commercial services in 2025 under an ACMI framework before transitioning to in-house flight operations during the IATA summer 2026 season. The new aircraft provides additional capacity for a domestic network linking four airports and three aerodromes, where sectors average 36 minutes.
The carrier relies on the performance of the turboprop to serve airfields with restricted runway lengths, including Maio (1,200 m), São Nicolau (1,400 m), and Fogo (1,500 m). The additional airframe will support network frequencies and planned sectors such as Sal–Fogo, providing essential connectivity alternatives to maritime crossings.
Why it matters for your training
Island network operations highlight the demanding nature of high-frequency, short-sector turboprop flying on runways with constrained performance limits.
