China Southern schedules a one-time equipment modification on its long-haul service connecting Guangzhou, Zhengzhou, and Luxembourg at the close of 2026. While this intercontinental link is operated once weekly utilizing an Airbus A350-900, the airline plans to substitute this aircraft type with a Boeing 787-9 for a single operational rotation.

The equipment swap takes effect on the outbound service scheduled for 31DEC26, while the corresponding return leg departing from Luxembourg is scheduled for 01JAN27.

Under the published schedule, flight CZ677 departs Guangzhou at 0935 and arrives in Luxembourg at 1900 on day four of the week, operated by the 787-9. On the return journey on day five, flight CZ678 departs Luxembourg at 1430. The aircraft arrives in Zhengzhou at 0705 the next day, departs Zhengzhou at 0955, and reaches Guangzhou at 1230.

Why it matters for your training

For flight crews, one-time fleet substitutions require verification of aircraft performance, fuel planning figures, and system differences specific to the operational type rating.
