Skytrax has released its 2026 ranking of the world's best airports for dining, with Singapore Changi Airport taking the top spot, followed by Seoul Incheon and Tokyo Haneda. This ranking underscores a growing trend: airports are increasingly using gastronomy as a key differentiator to attract passengers and enhance their overall experience.
Changi Airport, already named the world's best airport for 2026 by Skytrax, also wins the Best Airport Dining award. Its food offerings range from hawker-style food courts to high-end restaurants in the Jewel complex, such as Kam's Roast for roast duck, Poulet Bijou for Asian bistro cuisine, and a contemporary izakaya for yakitori. Food & Wine notes that the selection is so rich that travelers might order a second glass of champagne and lose track of time.
Seoul Incheon and Tokyo Haneda complete the top three, leveraging a mix of local and international cuisine. Incheon offers Korean, Japanese, and pan-Asian options alongside Western brands, while Haneda emphasizes Japanese culinary traditions. Skytrax's World Airport Awards highlight that the Best Airport Dining award considers diversity, quality, and value for money, rewarding airports that combine strong local offerings with accessible international choices.
European airports also feature prominently. Rome Fiumicino is praised for its pizzerias, trattorias, and wine bars that showcase Italian products, allowing travelers to taste Roman cuisine before leaving the airport. Munich Airport, with around 60 restaurants, cafes, and bistros, leans into Bavarian culture with its Airbräu brewery and Backstube Wünsche bakery, while also offering healthy and local concepts like Subralott.
Paris Charles de Gaulle, though not in the top dining ranking, maintains a strong gastronomic reputation with establishments like Bistrot Benoît, La Table de Michel Roth, and I Love Paris by Guy Martin, offering champagne, foie gras, and Ladurée macarons. For Skytrax, dining has become a key marker of overall airport quality, rewarding the selection, types, and quality of outlets, as well as passengers' perception of value for money.
