**Ryanair's record winter expansion in Morocco**
Ryanair has unveiled its most extensive winter program ever for Morocco, planning 5.3 million seats to and from the kingdom during the 2026-2027 winter season. The Irish low-cost carrier will operate 156 routes, including 17 new ones, connecting Morocco to 14 European countries. This announcement aligns with the strategy of the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) to enhance air connectivity and distribute tourist flows more evenly across the country.
The program represents a 12% increase (580,000 additional seats) compared to the previous winter. Key to this growth is the new Ryanair base at Rabat, its fifth in Morocco. The airline will station 16 aircraft in the country, with two additional planes in Rabat, representing a total investment of $1.6 billion. Ryanair claims this will support over 8,500 local jobs, including 480 pilot and cabin crew positions.
**New routes and regional focus**
Rabat will gain seven new routes, Marrakech five, and Agadir five. Among the announced new connections are Rabat–Stockholm, Rabat–Krakow, Marrakech–Wrocław, Agadir–Milan, Agadir–Nuremberg, Agadir–Bratislava, and Agadir–Gdańsk. The airline plans to strengthen operations at 13 Moroccan airports, with a particular emphasis on less-known destinations like Fès, Tétouan, Essaouira, Ouarzazate, Dakhla, and Nador. This strategy aims to reduce the concentration of arrivals in Marrakech, Agadir, and Casablanca, and to open up the northern, eastern, Atlantic, and Saharan regions.
**Competitive low-cost market**
Ryanair is not alone in expanding in Morocco. The ONMT has also supported easyJet's base at Marrakech and Transavia's increased flights to Ouarzazate and Dakhla. However, Ryanair's winter program consolidates its position as a leading European operator for Morocco. For travelers, this means more direct flight options between European cities and various Moroccan gateways.
**Broader network growth**
Morocco is part of Ryanair's overall winter 2026/2027 expansion, which includes a record 80 million seats across 1,700 routes in 35 countries, with over 140 new routes. The airline is also increasing its presence in Central and Eastern Europe, North Africa, Ireland, and Scandinavia. This Moroccan program is thus a key component of Ryanair's global growth strategy.
