Etihad Airways and Air Cambodia have launched a codeshare partnership effective April 28, 2026, linking Abu Dhabi to Siem Reap – the gateway to the Angkor Wat temple complex – via Phnom Penh. The agreement builds on Etihad's direct Abu Dhabi–Phnom Penh route, which began in October 2025, and allows the UAE carrier to virtually extend its network to Siem Reap without operating its own flights there.
Under the deal, Etihad customers can book a single ticket from any destination on Etihad's global network to Siem Reap International Airport, with a connection at Phnom Penh International Airport. Baggage is checked through to the final destination. The domestic Cambodian leg is operated by Air Cambodia, which in turn places its code on Etihad's Phnom Penh–Abu Dhabi flights, creating a two-way flow of business and leisure traffic.
Siem Reap remains Cambodia's primary tourist gateway, attracting millions of visitors annually to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Angkor Wat. Beyond the temples, the city offers night markets, Khmer cuisine, and a growing cultural scene – assets that Cambodian authorities aim to better connect to major international hubs. For Etihad, the codeshare is part of a broader strategy to strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia, a key growth region for tourism and trade with the Gulf.
Operationally, the codeshare covers several routes between Cambodia and Abu Dhabi via Bangkok and Phnom Penh. Air Cambodia's code (K6) appears on Etihad's Abu Dhabi–Phnom Penh flights, while Etihad's code (EY) is placed on certain Air Cambodia domestic flights, notably Phnom Penh–Siem Reap. An interline agreement also extends connectivity to Air Cambodia's Vietnamese network, including Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc, served by ATR turboprops.
The partnership comes as Air Cambodia strengthens its role as the national carrier, supported by the new Techo International Airport in Phnom Penh (code KTI), which is set to become the country's main gateway. For Air Cambodia, access to Etihad's long-haul network via Abu Dhabi provides a channel to attract international travelers from Europe and the Gulf, supporting Cambodia's strategy to diversify tourist flows beyond traditional Asian markets.
