Emirates has launched a new "next-generation" premium lounge concept that will become the signature of the Dubai-based carrier at major airports worldwide. The first fully redesigned spaces have opened in Munich and Frankfurt, with Manchester, Mauritius, and Istanbul to follow by autumn. This new design will serve as the template for all Emirates lounges globally.
The airline has introduced over 50 design improvements, creating clearly distinct zones for relaxation, work, dining, and socializing. Inspired by the latest Emirates cabin palette, the layout blends contemporary architecture with chevron flooring, touches of marble and gold, and a backlit motif of the UAE's national tree, the Ghaf. Emirates is investing more than 50 million dirhams (approximately €12 million) per lounge for each major location, starting with Munich and Frankfurt.
"Our investment in this next-generation lounge concept reflects Emirates' ongoing commitment to delivering a seamless premium experience at every stage of the journey," said Adel Al Redha, Deputy President and Chief Operations Officer of Emirates. The new concept translates the aesthetics of the latest cabins—already deployed on A350s, some A380s, and Boeing 777-300ERs—into the ground environment. The decor is warm and minimalist, with integrated discreet lighting, premium materials, and modular spaces tailored to passenger needs.
Functional zones include relaxation corners, more private work areas, convivial lounges, and large dining spaces. Seats in Italian eco-leather are equipped with universal power outlets and wireless charging. A wall of artifacts showcases local artists and references to Emirati culture, alongside the iconic Rolex clocks. Emirates emphasizes an experiential culinary offering with live cooking stations, a wide selection of international dishes and regional specialties, and a "Made in" space highlighting local products and recipes. Hot and cold buffets are continuously replenished, and a dedicated oven bakes pizzas, flatbreads, and manakeesh. The beverage program includes a barista bar where a mixologist prepares cocktails and mocktails inspired by destinations, along with specialty coffees and fine teas.
The sensory journey has also been revamped, with the diffusion of Emirates' signature scent—notes of bergamot, citrus, jasmine, and soft wood—and increased greenery. Showers have been modernized in a spa style with premium finishes and sustainable VOYA products. Separate prayer rooms for men and women, with ablution facilities and qibla indication, are provided, along with quiet rest areas featuring dimmed lighting, blankets, masks, and earplugs. Private rooms can accommodate meetings or breastfeeding, and all Emirates lounges operate in a silent environment without microphone announcements to preserve passenger tranquility.
Emirates lounges remain free for First and Business Class passengers, as well as Skywards Platinum and Gold members, even when traveling in Premium Economy or Economy, with paid access options also available. Emirates currently operates 42 dedicated lounges, including 8 in Dubai and 34 at major international airports from Paris to Singapore, London, Sydney, and New York.
