On October 5, 2026, British Airways announced a complete interior retrofit across its Airbus A380 fleet. Each double-decker aircraft will receive more than 35,000 new parts, with the first upgraded airframe scheduled to enter scheduled service in the coming months.

The new four-class layout reduces total passenger capacity from 469 to 417 seats. Economy seating (World Traveller) drops by roughly 30 percent to 215 seats, making room for expanded premium sections. The entire upper deck will be dedicated to business class, featuring 106 Club Suites across four separate zones with lie-flat beds, direct aisle access, and sliding privacy doors, alongside redesigned galleys and dedicated passenger service areas.

The main deck will retain 12 First Class suites at the front, equipped with 92-centimeter-wide seats converting into two-meter beds and 32-inch 4K monitors. Premium economy will feature 84 seats, while both economy cabins receive modernized seats, USB-C power ports, Bluetooth audio, and larger screens.

At London Heathrow, the carrier is simultaneously expanding its ground facilities, including a new lounge at Terminal 5C by late 2028 and an upgraded Terminal 5 arrivals facility by late 2027. These developments fall under an eight-billion-dollar investment program initiated in March 2024.
