Air Caraïbes has recently launched iZivision, a free in-flight entertainment platform accessible on all its regional flights connecting Guadeloupe, Martinique, and Saint-Martin. This innovative service, powered by wireless technology from French company Moment Tech, transforms the airline's ATR 72-600 aircraft into 'true digital lounges.' Passengers can now enjoy a variety of content, including newspapers, music, series, documentaries, games, and podcasts directly on their personal devices. This initiative marks a significant step in the digitalization of Air Caraïbes' regional network.
The launch of iZivision, which took place on June 24, allows all regional passengers to connect to a content portal via their smartphones, tablets, or laptops with just two clicks, without needing any specific onboard equipment. The platform offers a catalog tailored for short flights, featuring quick and snackable content, as well as longer formats for connecting flights and frequent travelers. This wireless in-flight entertainment (W-IFE) solution relies on an onboard server and a local Wi-Fi network, allowing simultaneous content streaming to numerous passengers without requiring an internet connection.
The choice of Moment Tech aligns with a trend observed among several regional airlines in France and Africa that have adopted the Flymingo/Mood technology to modernize onboard experiences. Airlines like Air Corsica and Air Sénégal have already highlighted the benefits of these wireless solutions, which provide customizable digital services at a lower cost without significant cabin modifications. Furthermore, these systems enable quick content updates via 4G/5G and tools for monitoring passenger satisfaction.
The introduction of iZivision follows the recent refurbishment of Air Caraïbes' entire ATR fleet, which includes 74-seat single-class configurations. These aircraft, gradually introduced since 2016 to replace the ATR 72-500, have increased capacity while reducing fuel consumption per seat. On long-haul flights, Air Caraïbes has already leveraged digital experiences as a commercial advantage, equipping its Airbus A350-900 and A350-1000 with state-of-the-art entertainment systems.
With iZivision, the airline aligns its regional offerings with its transatlantic product, ensuring consistent service and comfort across its network from the Caribbean to Paris. Air Caraïbes emphasizes that providing free entertainment on its regional network is a unique offering in the Caribbean region, where inter-island flights have historically featured basic services without individual screens or dedicated digital portals. The airline aims to deliver a first-class travel experience across all served destinations, reflecting ongoing investments in cabin quality, seating, connectivity, and now digital content, amid increasing competition in the Caribbean regional market and rising passenger expectations for digital services.
Air Caraïbes highlights the territorial aspect of its new platform, designed to evolve 'daily' to stay 'ultra-connected' to current events, cultural happenings, and significant moments in the territories served. The goal is to offer a curated selection of content that enables passengers to access local news, documentaries about the Caribbean, youth programs, and podcasts related to the cultural and economic life of the region. This approach aligns with Moment's strategy, which has already developed tailored catalogs for other airlines, integrating local films and content, as well as additional modules like digital magazines and interactive maps. Thus, iZivision becomes a tool for promoting the Caribbean and the served territories, going beyond mere entertainment.
According to Air Caraïbes' management, extending the entertainment offering to regional flights was a natural decision. 'Offering this service on our regional network was a no-brainer for us. At Air Caraïbes, we are committed to providing a quality passenger experience across all our destinations, both on long-haul and our historic regional network. With iZivision, the entertainment is designed to be innovative and accessible, ensuring an enjoyable journey for all passengers.'
