Ryanair is reducing its operations in Vienna ahead of the upcoming winter flight schedule. The Irish low-cost carrier has decided to withdraw four aircraft from the Austrian capital while simultaneously cutting twelve routes from its local network, marking another reduction of its capacity and presence in the country.

The airline continues to vocally criticise several operational cost factors in Austria. Ryanair points specifically to the national aviation tax, alongside Vienna airport fees and Austrian air traffic control charges, which management views as excessive.

In addition, Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary stated that the Austrian government remains unable to clarify how or for what specific purpose it plans to deploy the previously announced 30 million euros earmarked for the aviation sector.
