Rwandair intends to introduce four additional Airbus A330-200 widebody aircraft during the current fiscal year. Chief Commercial Officer Reuben Mbonye announced this fleet expansion to the industry outlet Aero Time.

This delivery program forms the continuation of a larger widebody induction plan comprising five supplementary long-haul airframes. Rwandair previously took delivery of an initial A330-200 on August 24, marking the first airframe of this five-unit commitment.

The carrier plans to utilize this increased widebody capacity to expand its scheduled flight network. While specific routes remain unannounced, management indicated that upcoming destinations will focus primarily on Europe and the Far East.

Alongside this fleet growth, Rwandair relies on commercial alliances. The carrier established an interline and codeshare agreement with Egyptair in June, while concurrently reinforcing its operational partnership with Qatar Airways.

Why it matters for your training

Fleet expansions involving widebody aircraft generate operational crew opportunities and require line pilots to prepare for extended long-haul route sectors across European and Asian airspaces.
