Riyadh Air unveils its first production Boeing 787-9 in indigo livery
The Saudi Arabian carrier has presented its first commercial Boeing 787-9 painted in its dual-tone indigo scheme, registered HZ-RXAK.
Riyadh Air has revealed images of its first production Boeing 787-9 featuring its signature indigo and lavender livery. The aircraft, registered HZ-RXAK, represents the initial operational Dreamliner delivered with this primary color scheme, which was first shown at King Khaled International Airport (RUH) in June 2023.
According to data from ch-aviation, the carrier has already received eight Boeing 787-9 airframes. Those eight airframes were finished in Riyadh Air's alternative white, indigo, and lavender paint scheme. The dual branding schemes were developed by PriestmanGoode, using five primary tones including indigo, lavender, and Sunset Peach.
Prior to the completion of HZ-RXAK, the indigo appearance was only operated on a promotional Boeing 787 airframe between June 2023 and October 2024, appearing at events such as the 54th Paris Air Show under registration N8572C. That demonstration aircraft subsequently joined the fleet of TAAG Angola Airlines in 2025, operating under the registration D2-TEQ.
