Geopolitical turmoil and maritime supply chain disruptions continue to alter international freight flows to the advantage of air transport operators. During a media briefing in Frankfurt, Lufthansa Group chief executive Carsten Spohr highlighted that blocked maritime routes regularly trigger modal shifts toward air cargo, directly boosting demand.

According to Spohr, Lufthansa Cargo and Lufthansa Technik serve as essential structural pillars for group profitability. Both divisions are projected to outpace the growth rate of passenger airlines in the coming years. This structural expansion allows the group to capture commercial activity in external economies far more efficiently than through scheduled passenger services.

Operational networks are also adapting to these shifts. Lufthansa Cargo has extended its flight schedule beyond transpacific routes to include intra-Asian services. With the industry entering its peak fourth quarter, executive leadership reported high optimism regarding performance across the freight division in the coming months.
