Indian airline Indigo has completed a 328 million dollar financing agreement to fund eight Airbus aircraft. According to reports from Indian media, this commercial transaction receives direct backing from the major United States bank Citigroup alongside Credendo, the Belgian export credit agency.
The financed fleet consists of six Airbus A321 and two A320 aircraft. The entire financial framework was structured jointly by Citi and Credendo, operating in direct coordination with Indigo and the manufacturer Airbus.
Media reports emphasize that this operation constitutes the very first aircraft financing covered globally by Credendo. In addition, the transaction serves as the first aircraft financing supported by an export credit agency that utilizes a leasing structure located within the Indian financial hub GIFT IFSC.
