Argentina has granted Ethiopian Airlines extensive traffic rights for dedicated cargo operations, according to an official decision released on October 8. This ruling implements a bilateral air services agreement established between Argentina and Ethiopia in January 2025, which provides for unlimited flight frequencies.
The regulatory approval covers the third through the ninth freedoms of the air. Under this framework, the carrier is authorized to transport freight between third countries and conduct domestic cargo flights within Argentine territory without requiring an international connection.
Following this agreement, Ethiopian Airlines intends to introduce a weekly full-freighter flight on October 31, 2026. The planned routing connects Addis Ababa, Lagos, São Paulo, and Buenos Aires. The airline already serves this specific route seven times per week using passenger aircraft.
