Embraer has concluded a Pool Program agreement with Portugália Airlines to cover component support for its 19 first-generation regional jets. The deal applies to the carrier’s entire fleet operating under the TAP Express banner, which includes 12 E190 and seven E195 aircraft.

Portugália operates exclusively on behalf of TAP Air Portugal under an ACMI setup, generating approximately 25% of the TAP Group flight schedule across domestic, European, and Moroccan routes. Under this renewed performance-based framework, Embraer will handle exchanges, overhauls, and repairs for more than 300 aircraft components. This pool access is designed to enhance line availability while curbing the need for Portugália to store dedicated spares.

This return to Embraer's pool services coincides with a major ownership change at TAP Air Portugal, where Lufthansa Group was selected by the Portuguese government to take a 44.9% equity stake, alongside 5% set aside for employees. Although the German aviation group committed in 2025 to taking up to 100 E195-E2 jets for fleet modernisation, neither TAP nor Lufthansa has detailed any replacement plan for Portugália's operational E-Jets.

Why it matters for your training

Component support agreements directly influence fleet dispatch reliability, operational scheduling, and line maintenance efficiency for regional airline flight crews.
