M. R. Štefánik Airport in Bratislava is significantly expanding its African network across charter and scheduled segments. Smartwings has launched an eight-flight series of non-stop charter rotations between the Slovakian capital and Dakar, Senegal, operating throughout October and November on behalf of tour operator Hydrotour. This service marks Dakar's return to the airport's flight schedule following a four-year hiatus.

The airport's winter schedule also maintains operations to Zanzibar and Marsa Alam in Egypt. Furthermore, scheduled carriers Ryanair and Wizz Air are inaugurating direct flights from Bratislava to Agadir, Morocco, at the end of October during the seasonal timetable transition. Wizz Air will additionally operate direct flights to Hurghada, complementing existing scheduled services maintained by Air Cairo.

Long-haul leisure flying from the facility will broaden further in February 2027 with a premiere service to Mombasa, Kenya. In total, scheduled and charter operations from Bratislava will connect travelers to five destinations across the African continent: Senegal, Morocco, Egypt, Zanzibar, and Kenya.

Why it matters for your training

The diversification of leisure and low-cost charter routes into Africa illustrates seasonal aircraft utilization strategies and opens medium-haul crew scheduling opportunities from regional European bases.
