Azul has signed an agreement with FlightSafety International to acquire a new Full Flight Simulator dedicated to the Embraer E2 family. Scheduled for delivery in late 2027, the device will be installed at the Azul Academy located in Campinas, which serves as the carrier's primary operating base and maintenance facility.
Certified to Level D standard, the simulator enables complete flight crew qualification and recurrent training without using actual aircraft. It incorporates the VITAL 1150 visual system alongside the FlightSafety MissionFit instructional platform, recreating the flight deck environment of Embraer's second-generation regional jets.
While the manufacturer's announcement references an E190-E2 configuration, Azul operates a fleet of 50 E195-E2 aircraft. The two variants share cockpit layouts and systems, facilitating common type instruction across the E2 series. The carrier introduced the E195-E2 to commercial operations in 2019 to replace previous-generation E195 aircraft, and the supplier has built over 120 training devices for Embraer types to date.
Why it matters for your training
Internal Level D simulator capacity gives flight operations teams direct control over initial type ratings and recurrent checks, reducing operational dependence on external training centers as the E2 fleet expands.
