Airbus Helicopters has partnered with the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) to expand aerospace maintenance instruction for Indigenous students across Canada. The Saskatoon-based institute stands as Saskatchewan's sole provider of Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) instruction.

Through this arrangement, SIIT receives instructional technology dedicated to the H135 helicopter. Donated assets feature instructional hardware reproducing fuel distribution, cockpit flight control linkages, rotor gearboxes, and tail assemblies. The package also integrates the Helionix Advanced Tool Simulator (HATS), a portable simulator-based unit designed for practical cockpit and avionics instruction.

This transfer aligns with the Canadian federal Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) policy, leveraging assets originally supporting technician instruction for the Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) project. That wider initiative includes 19 H135 helicopters, designated CT-153 Juno, bound for the Royal Canadian Air Force to prepare military flight crews.

Why it matters for your training

Modern system mock-ups and avionics trainers reinforce the link between technical ground training and operational flight deck standards.
