The commercial court in Nouméa decided on October 8 to prolong the observation phase of Air Calédonie by six months. According to reporting from the newspaper Les Nouvelles Calédoniennes, this legal ruling extends the ongoing insolvency proceedings until mid-April 2027 for the financially distressed regional carrier based in New Caledonia. The airline originally entered court-supervised judicial restructuring proceedings on April 14, 2026. The primary objectives of granting this additional six-month timeframe are to enable the carrier to finalize its comprehensive restructuring plan and to stabilize its flight operations. This extension application received formal backing from the state aviation agency Adanc, which stands as the main shareholder of the regional airline. The continuation of the restructuring process remains critical for the company, as approximately 220 jobs are currently at stake.
