AEGEAN launches Damascus flights and expands regional network
The Greek carrier plans direct winter services from Athens to Damascus, prepares routes to Libya for 2027, and reopens its Athens–Dubai sector in October 2026.
AEGEAN is expanding its Middle Eastern route network through the launch of scheduled direct flights between Athens and Damascus, starting on 2 December 2026. According to the Greek airline, services on this route are scheduled to operate up to four times weekly throughout the winter season, with flights planned on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
In addition to this Damascus service, the Greek carrier is planning direct flights to both Tripoli and Benghazi in Libya beginning in May 2027. However, the introduction of these scheduled operations to both Libyan destinations remains strictly subject to the completion of the necessary assessments and required regulatory procedures.
Meanwhile, the airline will also resume its direct flight operations connecting Athens and Dubai on 23 October 2026, restoring this link in the Middle East.
Why it matters for your training
Operational expansion into Middle Eastern and North African airspaces requires flight crews to review specific route clearances, contingency alternates, and regional operational directives.
